Cambodian Life Project Update

Eric H. Doss · April 11, 2018 ·

With your supports and prayers I am able to meet Jesus and help Him in some rural areas in Cambodia (Mathews 25).

This is just a brief report about the Life Project’s activities :

The first three pictures are about two little girls who live with their grandmother and great grandmother.  The great grandmother is paralyzed and blind. Their father died about a year ago from auto accident in order to save his younger daughter. Their mother currently is working at a restaurant in Phnom Penh and comes home once a month with some money to support the family. They are struggling financially.  As you can see the wall behind them is made with plastic sheet. The grandmother and the girls also have some income from washing  the neighbors’ clothes as you can see behind the little girl.

After posting their situation through facebook,  I got some donations. Today I bought two bikes and a bunch of cloth and shoes for them. I also found a good carpenter who will build a room where the great grandmother sleeps.

The other pictures are about my mother’s baptism and her birthday celebration. This is the first christian service in the village. The villagers were so thrilled to join us and heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The rest of the pictures are about our mobile medical clinic.  We provided them a lot of medicine, reading glasses  and other educational supplies. I am still waiting for other supplies that I shipped out before I left home.

Thank you again for your prayer, thoughts and support.
May God bless you.

New Staff Offer Hospitality

Eric H. Doss · March 23, 2018 ·

Head Greeter

The Head Greeter is a new volunteer position that keeps an extra set of eyes on the downstairs while we are upstairs during service. The Head Greeter can direct newcomers to the sanctuary, the bathroom facilities or a hot cup of coffee.  These are just some of the ways that we can show our hospitality to the visitors at Eliot.

The Head Greeter can also be an extra set of eyes and hands helping our nursery, but all children should be supervised when coming downstairs during service. Children older than nursery age should be in church or at Sunday School.

If you would like to help out and volunteer as the Head Greeter one Sunday, please talk to Joyce Hughes or Eric Doss.

Nursery

We now have a fully staffed nursery. There are two people each Sunday who can care for our youngest members while you are upstairs.

Brenna Gosselin is 24 and has an associates degree in Early Childhood Education. She works for Build-a-Bear Workshop and she is a pet sitter. For fun, she watches documentaries and movies with her friends. She is a Disney and Harry Potter person and likes to play Dungeons and Dragons.

Yahira Torres is a full-time mother to two boys, 4 and 8. She is also a full-time student at U-Mass Lowell working on her Bachelor’s degree in Art. Her goal is to become a museum curator or an art teacher. She works part time at Wicked Cool for Kids as a Supply Coordinator. The company runs STEAM-based programs all throughout New England. She enjoys crafts, painting, printmaking, graphic design and traveling.

Brenna and Yahira join Mablean and Chelsey Ntoro to take turns making sure the Nursery has two workers each Sunday.
